My Story

Thijs' story unfolds like a journey of relentless pursuit and profound dedication to robotics and mechatronics, highlighting a passion that bridges the gap between academia and innovative research. His narrative begins in the bustling halls of Saxion University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands, where, from January 2017 to April 2022, he laid the foundation of his career with a Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics. This period was marked by a blend of rigorous study and practical exploration, setting the stage for his future endeavors.

With an unwavering commitment to expand his knowledge and skills, Thijs ventured beyond the confines of his initial studies, embracing a global perspective. His journey took a pivotal turn in August 2020 when he embarked on an internship at the DTU - Technical University of Denmark. This international experience, spanning until February 2021, allowed him to immerse himself in a new academic and cultural environment, honing his skills and broadening his understanding of mechatronics in a global context.

Returning to Saxion University of Applied Sciences with enriched expertise and a renewed vision, Thijs transitioned from a student to a contributor to the field. From February 2021 to April 2022, he took on the role of a Student Researcher, delving deeper into the intricacies of mechatronics research. This phase of his journey was not just about applying what he had learned; it was about pushing boundaries, exploring new possibilities, and contributing to the advancement of his field.

April 2022 marked a significant milestone as Thijs stepped into the role of a Researcher at Saxion University of Applied Sciences. In this capacity, he continued to build on his previous work, engaging in research that sat at the cutting edge of technology and innovation. His dedication to the field underscored his commitment to contributing to the broader knowledge base of mechatronics and robotics.

Seeking to further enhance his expertise and keep pace with the rapid advancements in the field, Thijs embarked on a new academic challenge in September 2022. He enrolled in the Pre-Master Systems & Control program at the University of Twente, The Netherlands, a strategic move aimed at bridging any gaps in his knowledge and preparing him for the complexities of advanced study in robotics.

His academic journey took another leap forward in September 2023, as he began his MSc in Robotics at the University of Twente. This period represents the culmination of years of dedication and the beginning of a new chapter in Thijs' career, one that promises to be filled with innovation, discovery, and contribution to the field of robotics.

Thijs' story is a testament to the power of continuous learning, international exposure, and a deep-seated passion for mechatronics and robotics. From his early days at Saxion University of Applied Sciences to his advanced studies and research, his journey reflects a relentless pursuit of excellence and a commitment to making a significant impact in the world of technology.
